The great majority of citizens oppose the introduction of mega trucks.

A few weeks after the start of the first cross-border journey of a mega truck from Denmark to Schleswig-Holstein, the Transport Ministry in Kiel has already issued a second special permit. A ministry spokesman confirmed that a freight forwarder from Neumünster received the requested permission. Thus fears prove to be true that the planned nationwide trial in Germany would have a signalling effect and the already happening trials in two German federal states would be extended step by step.
In a first reaction to the sneaky expansion of the Gigaliner experiments Member of Parliament Ernst Dieter Rossmann of the social democratic party (SPD) said in the local press that even the usual truck traffic in the northern German district of Pinneberg causes problems. "Therefore I think the allowance of mega trucks on our roads is simply not justifiable.”
