80 percent of Swiss people against mega trucks

08 Jan 2010. The overwhelming majority of people in Switzerland refuse the admission of longer and heavier trucks. This was the result of a representative opinion poll conducted by the LINK Institute on behalf of the Alpen-Initiative. 80 percent of the 1200 respondents were against allowing Giagliners. As the most important reason for the denial costly extensions and modifications of the infrastructure was named.

 

Also in other European countries the people gave a clear rejection of mega trucks, this was shown by representative opinion polls in Germany, France and the UK. Accordingly 81 percent of French people, 75 percent of British and 73 percent of Germans are against longer, heavier vehicles.
